How is your weekend going? We are getting lots of rain. Rain that’s pouring down like a waterfall and rain we certainly need. Our AC decided to stop blowing cold air right when we were welcoming sixty guest into our home for our annual Celebration of Life party.
I about died when I opened the door to our bedroom and discovered

A steaming hot sauna. How was I going to host a house full of guest, eleven to be exact, for the weekend with all this heat??? The way I grew up! I opened all the windows and turn on the fans. I knew we had a ginormous cooler filled with ice water and plenty of lemonade so we were set for a hot entertaining evening. The AC is still out this weekend but the rain has cooled things off and I’m actually comfortable. Hopefully the part we ordered to fix the unit will be in this week, just before the heatwave returns. For now, I’m thankful for the rain and for taking a break from chores to swing by my Goodwill. Look at these goodies I scored!#ironstonechamberpot
My friend Shelly at Confetti Style turned me on to Ironstone. Why did she add another obsession to my already out of control list? She knows I love stuff and ironstone is cute stuff that I can’t resist. Since I’m a newbie at identifying ironstone, I make sure it has a makers mark slapped on it somewhere because the last thing I need is to collect stuff only to return it to the thrift stores.

I found this lovely chamber pot(well, okay pot)for $5.49 It works great as a planter.

If you’re going for the farmhouse look, use ironstone pieces as accessories. They really add to a farmhouse decor.

Who doesn’t love chinoiserie! I’ve not seen a ginger jar in black and white and when I saw this one for $2.49, I politely placed it in my buggy.#blackandwhitechinoiseriegingerjar

Add a few pieces of chinoiserie to your decor for an eclectic vibe. Look for ginger jars. They are all the rave lately and they come in all colors with a signature imitation of Chinese motif.

Jam and Jelly jars were popular back in the day and they are making a come back. This “cutie patootie” was missing it’s spoon but I knew I could replace it and for $1.99, why not use it to store powdered creamer for my coffee bar?!#ironstonejamjar

Think of ways to re-purpose thrift finds, especially when they are collector pieces.
Shop your local thrift store to find accessories to style your home. It’s fun and frugal!

Enjoy!
