I’m back with more ways to vaca on the cheap in Havana, Cuba. If you are just joining this series, be sure and check out Part.1, where I shared tips on places to stay, what to eat and where to people watch.
Tip: Start looking for cheap airfare way in advance of your trip. We got our tickets on American Airlines 120 days in advance for $300pp.#waterfall #havanacuba #mjonesstyle

We spent a whole day at the beach sunning, eating, drinking and watching the waves.

The water was too chilly for me but hubby and lots of others didn’t think so.
Cuba has a few beaches and since we were on the cheap, we chose to go to the closest one to our locale, Santa Maria Del Mar.

We took a short taxi ride from where we got tired of walking and headed to Havana’s Central Park area. This is where all the action goes on and where the tourists hang out. I’ll be sharing this area in Part 3. Central Park is also where we hopped a city bus and headed to the beach for $5.00 bucks each. After a long nap, we put on our dancing shoes (flip-flops) for a fun evening of salsa dancing.

We met so many kind people in Cuba and the diversity is paramount. I love it.

Now I have to warn you that there are plenty of tourist trap stagers hanging around bars and restaurants trying to coax you into dining at a particular restaurant and since there are so many places to eat, merchants pay individuals to generate customers for their businesses. Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with trying to make a dollar until they tell you the places you are looking for are closed or over crowded. Yeah right!

One of our favorite memories is the great neighbors we met. Donald stayed on the balcony way into the night visiting with them. On our last night, they invited us over for a champagne toast and like true American tourist, we had to take pics to share. Our new friends helped us navigate our way through Havana.

How can anyone come to Cuba and not enjoy some salsa dancing? Certainly not me, I was determined to go and for a good price. Our neighbors knew about the perfect place which was minutes from our Airbnb for only $5 bucks each. I guess you might say we were on a $5 role. We joined other friends there who happened to be salsa dance instructors and I got a free lesson while hubby watched. Check out the video of our beach day and twist and shout night.

Until next time,

Enjoy.
