I have been searching for a Butter Bell ever since I was introduced to the amazing idea of having spreadable butter readily available to slather on a slice of bread. The original Butter Bell was introduced to the masses by the French who gave it the  original name, beurrier. The Butter Bell is a cute little modern version of the butter keeper.


So you say what is a Butter Bell? Well, it’s a little crock with two parts, the well and the bell. The well is the part that holds water and the bell sits inside the well and holds the butter. When you place the bell inside the well, it forms an air tight cylinder that keeps the butter cool, fresh and spreadable without refrigeration.
Just sit this adorable conversation piece on your counter top and serve up buttery bread for your guest. The best part of this story is that I found this cutie pie at Anthropology for just a song and dance. I grabbed all the ones on the shelf for Christmas gifts. Merry, Merry!
