Happy Monday Y’all! It’s been a minute since I put a pen to paper and I’ve missed that creative side of my brain. October is always a busy month for me and also the month I host my Annual Vintage Market Open House.
This event takes six months to plan  which means something has to take a back burner e.g. blogging. The open house was fabulous and now I’m back and ready for “the most wonderful time of the year, the holidays!” I’m already planning my Thanksgiving spread, holiday baking, Christmas tablescapes, and parties.

While I was away from the blog, I brushed up on my insta story skills to keep you guys in the loop with what was going on in my world. I have to brag on my live stories because I didn’t know what the heck I was doing but I managed somehow to get a few laughs. I completed several self imposed paint projects while I was away and I shared sneak peeks @mjonesstyle.  I saved the before and after pics for the blog.

This music cabinet is one of my paint projects and I’m in love with the transformation. When I first saw this cabinet, I turned my nose up after eyeing all the water stains, chipped veneer, missing wood and scratches but the vendor convinced me that with a can of paint, I’d have a masterpiece and to make sure I became the new owner, he sweeten the deal with a discount. #entrydecor #mjonesstyle #velvetfinishesI knew I wanted to paint this cabinet a statement color so I partnered with Velvet Finishes, one of my favorite paint lines. (Velvet Finishes sponsored this post however all opinions are 100% all mine. I have included links for your convenience. Please see my complete disclaimer statement, here.) #velvetfinishes #mjonesstyle #greenpaintcolorVelvet Finishes Paint, has a variety of robust statement colors and I was torn between two but I settled on “Enchanting” a magnificent green and I’m over the moon happy with the finished results.

Y’all, after the first coat of paint, I wanted to take a bite of this cabinet because it reminds me of a Granny Smith Apple. I love Velvet Finishes easy three step paint process and I knew this cabinet needed a paint that would hide all the imperfections inflicted over the years. The beauty of Velvet Finishes is the ease of not having to sand before painting. However, there was a noticeable piece of veneer missing on the top of this piece and plenty of deep scratches and water stains so I lightly sanded the top with sandpaper and left the other nicks and dings to Velvet Finishes.

Next, I applied step one, Ready. This cleans and prepares the surface so the paint can be slapped on without worrying about paint lines. After I achieved my desired coverage, with three coats, this bad girl was in need of some extra love, I sealed the paint with step three, Protect. The final step gives a beautiful shine to your project and helps protect the piece from scratches.

At first, I wanted to replace the knobs and pulls but the “vintage” in me opted to keep the authentic ones for a nostalgic vibe.

I shined them up with a dab of Rub’n Buff and the rest is ooh la la!  This piece is for sale but for now, I’m enjoying my beautiful masterpiece in my entry and I can’t wait to dress her up for the holidays.

Until next time,
Enjoy!
