Merry, Merry Everyone! Welcome to Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour 2018. I’m thrilled that you are here especially with so many holiday tours at your fingertips. We are excited to have you join us and hope that you will be inspired to create unique décor and entertaining ideas for your home.
We also hope you will enjoy the tour and our lineup of design enthusiast bloggers who will bring you a variety of design styles just in time for your holiday festivities. I will provide a list of all the participating bloggers at the end of this post.
I hope your pencil is still sharpened after taking notes on Kate’s holiday décor. Kate, at Chic On A Shoestring Decorating, has a beautiful home and this holiday season is loaded with lots of ideas. If this is your first time visiting my blog, thank you very much and come back as often as you like. Let’s start with my mantel.

I’m a traditional girl when it comes to decorating for the holidays. I have so much red and green décor that it would be sinful for me to start all over with the gorgeous colors that are all the rave these days. Instead, I had to come up with a way to sneak one of my favorite colors (pink) into my sea of red and green.



The idea came when I pulled out my Royal Albert Old Country Rose china and giggled at the beautiful pattern of fuchsia flowers nestled in with red, wine and yellow roses. The best part is that I had just about everything I needed in my holiday decorating stash to pull off this color theme except these gorgeous pink ornament balls.



I opted for several small ornamental trees instead of dragging out my 9ft. tree and I love how easy it was to dress them up with a few shatterproof ornaments and some mini lights.



I added more festive throws and pillows to the chairs by the fireplace for a cozy winter feel.




One of my favorite areas in our home is the sitting area. This small space is so intimate and inviting. I love having girlfriends over for tea and conversation. We curl up, relax and spill the beans with each other.




I recently purchase this 6ft tree from At Home and it fits perfectly tucked in this corner. The slim design takes up very little space but makes a big impact and holds most of our favorite sentimental ornaments. The tree stand was unsightly so I diy’d this lampshade by removing the metal holder then sitting the metal stand inside the lampshade. I added some ribbon to the drum and covered the top with the existing fur that came with the tree.

A frugal friendly way to add holiday décor to any space is with Christmas tree ornaments. I placed some tissue paper for height to the inside of this chinoiserie planter then added shatterproof ornaments.


For a little festive sparkle, I added this plaid material I already had on hand to the back of the sofa.


More pillows and throws and “It’s starting to look a lot like Christmas!”
