I’ve been working on turning my office into a dual function space where I can work then relax when I’m done. The space has always been set up in this manner but it is filled with left over furniture which was replaced by newer items throughout the house. The room is not functional to say the least and the decor is embarrassing. Here is the room in it’s original state.

This sofa use to be one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the house. It’s been with me for 12 years and was included in our move six years ago. This sofa was custom made to order, extremely comfortable and it was not cheap. I wish I had a picture of it before it was slept on every day for five years. The back cushions are a result of Cleo making it her queenly spot for lounging and playing “I spy” threw the window. My once stunning sofa has been replaced by another Rowe Furniture selection which I will show you in the big reveal. Chest and wine tray 010#office makeover#office makeover#office makeover
Well I better slow down with all the big reveal talk because I don’t want to make myself out to be some interior design guru. I designed the space with comfort in mind. I so hope you will like it and find inspiration to create a space that has your “stamp style”. Hey, I like that combo I just made up. I’m keeping the desk because it is functional with plenty of desktop space for two laptops with room left over to spread out. The desk is actually a dining table I found at one of my favorite dives. It was already painted this creamy beige color which I absolutely love.#office makeover#office makeover
The chest is left over from Aaron’s baby furniture 29 years ago. The other pieces to the set have since departed my possession but I held on to this jewel because the storage space is ample enough to house all my office supplies. I have four, of these chairs sprinkled throughout the house. They are a part of my original breakfast set from my first home. I recovered the cushions with a lovely Ikat fabric which looks wonderful in the office; can’t wait for you to see them. The table to the chairs can be found in the garage serving as Donald’s frying station. That was our bargain when we move into our dream home, he could fry fish but not in the house so he set up a fish fry restaurant in the garage and for that compromise, we still have a blissful marriage. #painted chest#painted chest#hair cushion recovered#chair cushion recover
Here is a sneak peek of the transformation of the chest. The color is HGTV’s Rapture Blue, by Sherwin Williams. Since the chest is built of solid pine and never been stained or painted, it took three coats. The primer was tinted with the color. I applied one coat of primer then two coats of this breathtaking blue. Added double pulls, bun feet and now I have a signature piece that’s super functional and gorgeous. More to come next week. Have a beautiful weekend.

Enjoy,
MJ
