With Easter being just a few days away, it’s time to plan your dinner menu for the hungry crowd that will gather around your table. My meal will include ham, green beans and potatoes, steamed broccoli, potato salad and key lime pound cake. For those of you, who are planning on swinging by one of those ham stores to pay sticker price for your Easter ham, try my affordable ham instead.

All you need is a spiral cut ham from the market or any big box store. Preferably the butt of the ham because it has more meat. Ham is one of the simplest meats to prepare. The cooking instruction come right on the package and with my delicious glaze recipe, you will have a ham to rave about for a lot less.

Enjoy,
MJ
Ingredients:
1 spiral cut ham
1 small can of sliced pineapple (3) slices
3 maraschino cherries
1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
Juice from the pineapples
1 tbs. mustard
15-20 whole cloves
2 tbs. honey
1 6-8oz. can of Coke
Directions:
Set the oven to the temperature and time on the package. Remove the package, pat ham dry with a paper towel. Stick the cloves between the slits of the ham. Cook ham for half the time as instructed on the package. Meanwhile, in a small sauce pan, add the pineapple juice, sugar, mustard, honey. Blend well to form a paste. Once the ham has cooked for half the time, remove the ham, pour the Coke over the ham. Using a basting brush baste the ham several times with the glaze. Place the ham back in the oven and finish cooking. Remove ham and based again. Add the pineapple slices and place the cherries in the center of the slice. Based the ham again. Set the oven to broil at 425 degrees. Place the ham in the oven for 8-10 minutes to grill the fruit and set glaze. Remove ham from oven and let ham stand for 30 minutes prior to serving.
