After dinner, we checked out a few more shops before heading to Austin, Texas to spend the night. Both our cell phones needed charging after using GPS to map our way through the boonies. We were driving on an unfamiliar road and we didn’t know if we were on our way to Austin or Timbuktu. The phone charger in the car was not working. A simple solution in my opinion would be to stop and ask for directions but that’s not part of Donald’s DNA. Instead, we stopped to charge Donald’s phone for an hour at a convenient store. That’s right, you’re thinking, the same thing I thought about this idea…what the what???

Once we got the GPS up and running, we made our way to the hotel. I went to check in while Donald parked the car. After searching for our reservation under our names, birth date and blood type, the manager said she could not find our reservation. Making our hotel reservation, was Donald’s assignment. By this time, Donald had made it to the desk with our confirmation number. The manager looked up the number and said, “I see the problem, you made your reservation for tomorrow night, not tonight.” I wanted to scream but I somehow held it in and remained calm while Donald wiggled his way into getting us a room for the night.

We stopped to take a selfie in the bluebonnets on our way home. A Texas tradition.

I had to smile when I heard Donald tell the manager he was getting older and his eyesight is not that great that’s why he checked the wrong date when he made the reservation. What a way to end a lovely day. I’ve been promising to share what I bought in Round Top with you and even though I saw so many things I wanted, I was very selective and frugal with my budget. I hope you have enjoyed this adventure as much as we did. We plan on going back in the fall. If you get the opportunity to visit Round Top, Texas during the antiques fair, you will not be disappointed. Here’s what I brought home with me.
