We’ve been experiencing non-stop monsoon rain in Texas for a month and it’s not letting up anytime soon. Instead of complaining about the rain, I’ve decided to embrace it. I’ve been asking myself, “what about folks who live in the state of Washington or tropical areas, how do they get through all the rain?” They just keep on keeping on. I admit, this weather is not the best for taking pictures even by a non-professional like myself, but I brush that thought off as well. A few weeks ago I shared my spring porch refresh and now I’m sharing my southern front porch decor for spring and summer.
There’s no need to go out and spend tons of $$$$ on accessories, just go shopping in your closet, garage and attic for hidden treasures to pull together your own unique style. This ladder was sitting in the garage collecting spider webs. It is rickety and a hazard to climb but it’s not junk to me… The ladder is my back drop to display yard art. The wind chime is a gift from my sissy and it’s made from re-purposed spoons and a watering can. I bought these brass containers at a garage sale for pennies. Seriously, some folks don’t know the value of what they have on hand. The dog and initial came from the fence that surrounded my childhood home. My maiden name is “Allen”. I bet when my relatives read this post they will be jealous they didn’t nab it first. 
How about lamps outdoors? Genius idea and one I copied from blogs and magazines. This one won’t be staying outside because it’s a bit too nice. I’ll replace it with a cheap one from Goodwill or a yard sale but isn’t this adorable?
I added some mint to a flower-pot so when I’m sipping my sweet tea on the porch, I can pinch off a leaf to add to my glass. Ahhh… refreshing.
