#freshflowerarrangement This time of year, you see beautiful flowers popping up everywhere, even in places where you wouldn’t dream plants grow. This season is also the time when everyone rushes out to the nursery to get first pick for their spring and summer yard show but what about inside the home? If you are lucky enough to have a green thumb and grow your own flowers for cutting, your neighbors are quietly resenting your harvest. I surf through several blogs and magazines and wonder how does one have so many lovely fresh floral arrangements sitting around their home? They must own a floral shop or have a hook-up because fresh flowers can be $$$ and with having to replace them weekly, becomes high maintenance. Well, here’s the secret to all that fanfare…grocery store flowers! Honey, if you want flowers like the “Haves” and not the “Have Not’s” swing by the market, grab a few bunches of flowers and create your own arrangements. I’ll show you how in this post.

I purchased three bouquets of flowers from Trader Joe’s (they have beautiful flowers at great prices) for $3.99 a bunch, that’s $12 bucks plus tax, title and license (auto industry lingo).

I collect vases, jars and stuff to display my flowers so I have plenty on hand. Decide which containers you want to use then fill them with fresh cool water. Use the food packet that comes with the flowers to keep your flowers fresher longer. #freshflowerarrangement#freshflowerarrangement
You may need some floral tape to help hold some of the flowers in place. You can find floral tape at Hobby Lobby and craft places. I’m cheap, so I used what I had on hand which is scotch tape. Create a basket weave over the opening of the container, then start cutting and placing the flowers until you achieve the look you want.

Isn’t this adorable? I used a crystal salad bowl. You can use just about anything as long as it holds water.
#freshflowerarrangement#freshflowerarrangement#freshflowerarrangementFor individual stems, make a small square with the tape to hold the stem upright. Then place other flowers around the center stem. For a more contemporary sleek look, arrange stems without foliage and fillers.

To create a monochromatic look, use the same color flowers like these white Gerber Daisies with a tint of yellow.

Remember it doesn’t have to be perfect, neither is nature. I made six arrangements from three bunches of flowers. Now tell me that’s not a bargain, right? I now have lovely fresh flowers all over my home and I didn’t empty my pocketbook to get this designer look. Which arrangement is you’re favorite? I’d love to know.
Tip: Replace water every other day.
Tip: Remove foliage to prevent enzymes from getting in the water. This soils the water faster.
Tip: Arrangements should last a week.
