Have you noticed how expensive herbs are in the grocer? One little sprig could cost as much as $1.99 and don’t mention organic, it’s outrageous. Why not grow your own herbs at home? It’s so easy. All you need is a big pot with a hole for the water to drain, some good potting soil and your favorite herbs in seeds or small starter containers. Fill the pot with soil, plant your seeds or starter plants, water and watch them grow. Make sure they are in a sunny place to receive a minimum of six hours of sun and keep them watered.

I have four herbs in this pot. I also planted a banana pepper plant.

Once they start producing, you will have enough for all your recipes and some to give away. They also make a great host gift for your dinner guest to take home. Snip a few sprigs, tie a ribbon around them and lay them in a basket to hand out as your guest leave. Here are some herbs I grow right outside my kitchen for easy access. I have some in the ground and some in a big pot. You will never pay those high prices again.

Enjoy,

MJ
