The wait is over! Welcome to Day-2 of our Makeover Madness Blog Hop featuring 10 phenomenal paint enthusiasts (and me) who have transformed blah into bling! Be sure to check out Tuesday’s lineup which I will list at the end of this post. Before I dive into paint and circumstance, I have to thank these two design queens, Shelly from Confetti Style for her behind the scenes organization and Kelli from Design Asylum and the brain child behind Velvet Finishes Paint,  for inviting me to participate in this event. They are two of the sweetest ladies who I’m so thankful to call my blog framily! Kelli graciously provided all the participants with their choice of paint color for our projects and boy does she have an amazing color palette selection.

Be sure to browse through the rainbow color wheel selection of VF. I had a hard time selecting a color with so many choices but I finally selected, Eloquent. The name alone got me and the color is breathtaking! This was my first time using Velvet Finishes and I’m Sold!

Folks painting with Velvet Finishes is a walk in the park with two dips of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla. I have never and I mean never ever used a paint product that is this velvety “no pun” intended. The coverage is unbelievable! I used two coats and that’s all it took.

The three step application is a no brainer and dries really fast. Just spray on the Ready, have a half glass of wine, then wipe off. Paint, like an amateur and finally, slap on the Protect and you just entered yourself in the DIY painters hall of fame. VF is that easy. Now on to my second roadblock with my project. Finding something to paint! I shopped a few thrift stores and found nothing. Then, one afternoon, I was piddling around in my garage and spotted this hutch covered in the hubs tools junk!

I’ve got plenty eye candy for you so stay with me. After further investigation, I remembered how this piece of furniture landed in our garage. We were driving home from church one Sunday (seven years ago) and one of our neighbors had set it out on their dump. Mr. Jones stopped the car and said “were taking this home!” I pleaded with him not to go dumpster diving in our neighbor’s trash. I don’t know why I was acting so persnickety when normally this wouldn’t have fazed me one little bit. I guess it was our neighbors and there was something about taking our neighbors trash that had me acting weird. Mr. Jones pointed that out to me as well, then drove me home and went right back to collect his find. I really didn’t have any interest in the piece especially since I was still having thoughts of the neighbors dropping by for a visit and recognizing their trash had been turned into treasure. I cleared off some of the junk covering the hutch and found it had really good bones. That’s when my creative juices went on a rampage. I dumped all of Mr. Jones’ junk in a plastic bin, dragged the hutch into the house and announced, “This is what I’m going to paint for my project.” You know Mr. Jones let me have it, right? The speech on “you didn’t even want the hutch and yes, honey,  you can have it for your paint project.”

Here is the before picture of the hutch again.
