I grew up on sandwiches, peanut butter and syrup, bologna, butter and sugar and government cheese. If we had bread, we would make a sandwich out of anything. Putting a little comfort between two slices of bread is just plain good. This grilled cheese sandwich is yumptious, (one of my foodie words I created.) The cheese is creamy and the pears add sweetness and texture. Serve these sandwiches at your next lunch or dinner gathering and make sure you have a couple extra because you can’t eat just one.
Enjoy,
Ingredients:
2 pears
Brie cheese
Butter
Fresh cracked pepper
Salt
fresh thyme leaves
French bread
Directions:
Slice the pears length wise. Remove the seeds stem and tail with a small melon baller. Thinly slice the pears about 1/8 inches thick. Cut two slices of bread and generously butter. Place the bread, butter side down in a medium skillet. Slice cheese and lay the cheese on both sides of bread. Add a little pepper a few thyme leaves 12 or so and a pinch of salt. Lay pears on one of the slices of bread. Lay the non-pear side on top of the pear side and grill until golden brown.
