I’m not all that gung ho on packing away Christmas that is; right after Christmas. Not even after New Years. I never look forward to seeing the house feel so sad with all the merry and bright removed and pulled to the attic, let alone the fact that I’m dead tired after all the celebrating.

I watched and listened to the world discard the holidays as fast as they came but I sat back and chilled. “What’s the rush?” I kep#brownvelvetchairs#whitesequinthrowbillow #leopardprintthowpillow#animalprintthrowt asking! The company has come and gone, no parties to plan, my home looks so festive and my kitchen “closed for business” sign is hanging in it’s proper place. I had bigger fish to fry and adding fifty trips to the attic was not on the immediate “to do list.” I put it off as long as I could and then the holiday packing day came and I was well rested for the job. Once everything was tucked away, I let a few days pass before the hubs said “the house looks so empty!” That was my queue to add some life back into our abode.

I shopped the house and moved a few furnishing around to freshen up the sad spaces. Our my sitting area needed a refresh so I switched out the throw pillows on the sofa and moved the chocolate chairs together.

I added this leopard print stool which matches the leopard pillow on the sofa.

Next, I switched out the existing print for this Asian inspired one, from our bedroom. The bar cart got some re-arranging and a vase of fresh hydrangeas.

Since I’ve been adding to my blue and white Chinoiserie collection, I decided to create a vignette on the coffee table.

I finally found time to polish my silver set and moved it to the buffet. I can’t believe the difference a little silver polish makes.

The best thing about this refresh is that I spent $5.00 on a bouquet of flowers and I’m loving my winter refresh all the more.
Tips for refreshing a room:
Shop your home first.
Move furnishing to give the space a new look.
Accessorize with throws and pillows.
Add fresh flowers from the grocer.
