Wow! Thank you so much for the love and kudos on my latest video where I whipped up some yummy treats for your Valentine. If this is your first visit, wonderful. Check out my video here. I’ve always wanted to be in front of the camera to put my acting lessons from my younger days to the test and I’m having so much fun. Welcome back to Wednesday’s Closet Tips with an update on my master closet makeover.

I shared my mood board with y’all here and if you recall, I found the perfect five drawer chest at least I thought I had. The space that I plan to place the chest, is very limited and measures 24″Wx17″Dx42″H. I was about to press the purchase button when my quality light bulb came on! I relaxed my less excited finger then pressed the removal button on my cart. What was I thinking? The challenge of finding the perfect size chest overshadowed my love for quality which in my opinion can only be found in antiques and vintage treasures. “What’s the rush?” I asked myself. It’s not like this project has the nail biting ORC deadline! I almost missed out on the fun of hanging out in my favorite junk antique stores and look at what I found! Isn’t she lovely?

This Meredew six drawer mid-century modern jewel is perfect and a highly desirable item on the vintage market. The prices online for a similar piece is $$$ ridiculous. I scored this chest for $140 bucks!!!

The dealer was running a 50% off sale! I squealed at the thought of such a bargain but not until I had it loaded in my SUV. I almost paid $200 for particle board.

This chest has solid brass pulls, dovetail drawers and solid wood. What do you think, should I paint it or not.

I would love to hear from you.

Tips for shopping for the perfect item:

  • Take your time and remember “quality” always.
  • Shop antique stores and resale shops for great finds
