My family longed for a vacation where everyone would be able to gather without the cost being a pinch in our pockets. We tried a cruise which was great for some.

However, several who had planned to go, backed out once they added up the dollars for a family of five or six. I was determined to find a place that would fit everyone’s budget and accommodate us all. For those of you who follow me, you’ve read my raving posts on Airbnb’s so I thought I’d go on the hunt for a place for our family vacation and I found the perfect spot hidden in the mountains of Lake Livingston.

I was so excited to find Staley Mountain Ranch tucked in the woods atop a steep mountain with views overlooking the forest and the lake.

Once I added up our headcount and divided the cost amongst all of us, this hideaway was super affordable, comfortable and came with all the amenities we were looking for.

Staley Mountain Ranch is a super large log cabin with wide wrap around porches, oversized deck and an outdoor fireplace for lots of family fun. The views are breathtaking and eagle sightings are guaranteed.

The cabin sleeps up to 20 adults with lots of entertaining room to spare. My niece took charge of the menu for our meals and assigned each family their portion.

The men cooked breakfast and BBQ’d like the grill masters they claim to be. We lounge in our pajamas, sipped our coffee and took in the fresh morning breeze from the deck.

The kids lived in the pool and screamed Marco Polo until they got on our nerves. Since it was vacation, we took a nerve pill and let them enjoy their time together.

Staley Mountain Ranch operates as a venue for weddings, parties and a bed and breakfast. Edith, the owner is no stranger to the phrase “it’s all in the details!” She thought of everything to make our stay truly a home away from home.
