Merry Christmas Eve my friends! Y’all, I’m done with shopping, gift wrapping and my grand babies toy chest makeover. Whew, I had to take a break from painting after my wrist started giving me the blues.
I made it to the finish line and I’m excited to share the reveal with you.
When the hubby arrived home with this chest he’d found on the side of the road, I looked at him, shook my head and went about my business thinking “I can’t wait to set this piece of junk out on the curb.”
These thoughts were before I knew I was having a grand baby and right after I’d finished a major paint project. Fast forward…Aaron(my son) suggested I get “baby” a toy chest for Christmas and that’s when my thoughts of this “trash” chest, turned to “treasure” chest.
I partnered with Velvet Finishes Paint, again. Y’all know I love this paint. and I’ve used it on several projects throughout my home.
No wonder it’s called Velvet Finishes, the texture of this paint is so smooth and the rich intense color produces a professional finish that resembles art.
I chose the color Modern, a bold bodacious blue with navy undertones.
The wood had started to split in some places so to make sure my little snuggle bear didn’t end up with splinters, I sanded down the rough spots then added casters for easy movement. I applied step one, Ready and allowed this product to do it’s job overnight because I was in no hurry. Next, I applied two coats of paint, allowing them to dry in between. Lastly, I slapped on step three, Protect and grand babies toy chest came to life!
Lolli, that’s me, put Santa’s gift inside.
I added these gold pulls and hinges.
The back got a good coat of chalkboard paint, for lots of play time.
Baby Alonzo’s toy chest is signed, sealed and soon to be delivered!
Until next time,
Enjoy!
