Hello August! My bottom lip is pooched out with the thought of summer coming to an end. I know lots of y’all are over the heat and bidding summer farewell. I get it but I’m a sun loving worshiper and as long as I have a glass of sweet iced tea or water, I’m good. I also adore dining al fresco and summer is the perfect
time to find a cool shady spot in our forest out back, for a romantic dinner. We already have a picnic table in the woods and since it is plastic and metal, we leave it there without having to worry about dragging it inside when the seasons change.
All I do is give it a clean wipe down and I’m ready to set the table. Since the picnic area is a few hundred (give or take) steps from the house, I fill a basket with the items I need to set the table like plates, napkins, flatware, glasses, a tablecloth and pretties, then head to the woods.
I like to mix my tableware with outdoor and indoor goods to create an upscale dining experience. Remember, this is suppose to be romantic. First, I place the tablecloth on the table, then start layering with place settings, fresh flowers, wine, pillows and music.
I like to start with fresh fruit and a cheese tray. Then I keep the meal simple by serving a robust salad with poultry or fish and finish the meal with chocolate fudge bars and candlelight under the stars.
p.s. don’t forget the bug spray!
Do you like to dine al fresco? I would love to hear from you.
Enjoy!!
