Last year, I made grand plans to refresh our powder room as my major project in 2019. This was going to be one of my home décor projects that I was really excited about. I had all these ideas in my head of how I wanted to bring some life back into this space.

I even convinced myself that I could handle this project without a hitch. Well, it turns out that my son who lives with us, decided it was time for him to move out and get his own place. A year ago, I would have been jumping for joy but after the arrival of my grand son and the blessing of having him around the majority of the time, I’ve become attached and I’m struggling emotionally with the thought of not having my snuggle bunny slamming my cabinet doors and going after my whatnots. At first, I thought my son would not be moving until springtime and I’d have a few more months to prepare myself for his departure but a great opportunity came sooner than we’d planned which allowed my son to move to his new place last weekend. Now I have a new design project on my hands, his bedroom. Honestly, a bedroom sounds like more fun to decorate than a tiny powder room.

There’s lots more real estate to play with and I can squeeze a chair into the space! Yasssss! One thing I know for sure, I’m not painting…period. I don’t mind painting small pieces of furniture but a room is “a horse of a different color.” I will do some touch up painting but my plan is to design this room around the wall color that already exist. Here are the design plans I’ve created in 3D and I’ve started gathering some of the furnishings for this space already.

I’ve always wanted a bedroom with twin beds and I found a set of solid maple twin beds last weekend on Facebook Market Place for only $80 bucks. Tip: Great designs are created with new and used items for a signature one of a kind space. I was going to paint them an awesome color but once I saw the quality of the wood and the makers mark, Ethan Allen, I ditched that idea. I’ll be using blues, whites, pinks, greens and florals in this eclectic design space and I’m excited to share all the details with you including the final reveal. I’m calling this project the One Room Challenge without the stress of a deadline. However, I do have a completion goal set for April. That’s April, 2019 and I’m counting on you to keep me on track.

Until next time,

Enjoy!
