Me and my BFFJ (best friend for junking) Sherry, headed down south for a weekend of treasure hunting. Sherry is my road puppy when it comes to scouring through unique places for vintage finds. We have similar taste in decorating our homes and we both like a good bargain. In other words we’re cheap. Our first stop was a spontaneous quick exit off the freeway in Huntsville, TX.  Sam Houston State University and the State Prison is located in Huntsville. Can you say door lock check?

Old Town Spring, Texas is located one mile off I45 south. There were several unique shops to choose from so we narrowed down our selection to a few and lucky for us, some were closed which made our selection easier. Crazy Mama’s was located off the main drag. I seem to always find my treasures around corners, so I’m drawn to alleys and hidden places. I was right, Crazy Mama’s, is a perfume shop where you create your own signature fragrance.

I was intrigued when we walked in the pint sized room filled with a counter full of oils, spices and apothecaries. Since the seats were already taken at the perfume mixing counter, I moseyed towards the back of the shop which was about ten steps, to find the vintage jewelry case and there they were, my little treasure waiting for me behind the glass case.
I couldn’t see the price tag but I wanted to hold them in my possession for a bit. The shop owner pulled them out of the case for me.

The second I held the earrings in my hands, I knew I had to have them. I was hoping for a bargain and when the shop owner informed me that they were on sale and he’d give me a little extra off, that sealed the deal. While the shop keeper was ringing me up, his wife came back to check on the noise he was creating with the register. She asked me if I loved my treasure and if he’d given me a bargain. I said yes and yes. There was an immediate connection between the two of us. I can’t explain it but it’s that feeling you get when you meet someone who releases a warm energy that gives you a feeling of comfort. Perhaps it was the aroma from the perfumes but whatever the case, Diana and I chit-chatted about the earrings and she told me to wear them well. I’ve worn them every day for a week. They have become a pair of my favorite earrings in my collection.
