The wonderful thing about the winter holidays is that you don’t have time to be sad about Thanksgiving ending because Christmas is right on your heels. Before my Thanksgiving crowd leaves for home, I coax my nephews and Aaron into climbing the attic stairs to gather my Christmas decorations. It’s nice having all that testosterone around for heavy lifting.

I use to decorate every single room in my home and that took days to complete. Since then, I’ve matured in my craziness and find it a lot easier to decorate a few strategic areas to make my home feel festive and allow more time to enjoy the season and entertain. This is my family room that I turned into my dining area. The center piece on my dining table is a 6ft. Garland I formed into a circle. I place my silver service including the tray in the center and added some white pumpkins I used for my fall decorations.

The pedestal glass compote I use for my banana pudding, is filled with my collection of teacups from the years of Christmas Tea parties I’ve thrown or attended. I guess my family won’t be getting any banana pudding until after the holidays.

My precious nativity scene is placed in plain view. I borrowed pillows from my bed and place them in the chairs and decorated the tree with thirty years of collected ornaments including Aaron’s handmade ones and his teddy bears from his toddler years. I love to use what I already have around the house and incorporate everyday items with Christmas decor. Hope you are having fun decorating your space.

Enjoy,
MJ
