My fans, friends and followers, the hiatus is over!

Where have I been, you might ask. Y’all, don’t even get me started with the millions of excuses I could give. Bottom line, I found myself sitting at my keyboard one day and thought…What do I have to say that would inspire, encourage, ignite and bring joy to the ones who click on MjonesStyle and the answer was “crickets!” I scaled down on social media by taking the path of least resistance. My heart will always bleed for blogging and the chance to express my thoughts on paper and ink so I’m happy I found my voice just in time for the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge. I look forward to the fall and spring ORC. There are so many talented design individuals who create spaces to ooh and aah over and ones that inspire me to jump start my decorating love affair around my place. This is my very first time participating in the ORC as a guest participant and I’m nervous as all get out! Not so much about creating the perfect room but finishing this project on time. Gosh, we only have five weeks with an extra week thrown in for additional panic measure. I chose one of my guest bedrooms for the challenge and by looking at this room, you’d probably call this room “the catchall” room since that’s exactly what has happen to this little corner that was once my sons bedroom. I started working on this bedroom renovation 6 months ago and dropped the ball after I realized I wasn’t ready to tackle the project. I’m glad ORC came along to give me the inspiration that was lacking on my first try. I’m excited and can’t wait to share this room renovation and reveal with you. Let’s talk about the basic details of this room.

The room dimensions are 13’x 12′ with some wasted square footage at the entry. The room is “L” shaped with one rectangle window which provides a good amount of natural light. A walk in closet sits on the far wall and the entrance is off centered making the room a pain to design. I purchased twin beds off Facebook Market Place in hopes of positioning one on each side of the window. Well this plan was squashed when I realized the end of one of the beds would block the entry to the closet. With all design plans, there’s always a hiccup and this was a big one that I couldn’t get past until I wrapped my mind around working with the hand I’d been dealt…Arrange the beds like the shape of the room so I place the beds in an “L” shape and now I’m off to the races. I’ll be sharing the floor plan next week along with the complete color palate. Here is a sneak peek of some exciting installation projects in the making.

Mark your calendars for the next five weeks. You don’t want to miss a single post.
