Don’t laugh but I’ve been working on decorating our master bedroom for eight years! It’s crazy I know but it’s the truth. When we moved here eight years ago, almost nine, we didn’t have an extra dime to spend on anything let alone decorating! Since we’ve been housekeeping for over twenty years, we had enough stuff to move in and be comfortable. I wanted to take my time and create a space with an eclectic style without spending a fortune.

Today, I’m sharing the latest updates to our master bedroom. Let’s first start with the basic layout of the room. The master bedroom measures 15’x17′. There are three windows located on the same wall, two vertical and one horizontal. The room has lots of natural light but the position of these windows and the way the ceiling fades into the side walls, adds to my decorating dilemma.  Cute but try hanging curtains or adding crown molding and you’ve got a major design challenge on your hands. The queen bed is a part of a bedroom suite I purchased (new) 33 years ago. Every other

Piece of furniture in the room is gifted, thrifted or purchased during many years of antique shopping excursions. Now that you have a mental picture of our master bedroom, let’s see what’s new.

Curtains!!!! Yessss, after years of going back and forth on whether or not to add curtains, I found these amazing sheers at Home Goods. The sheers came two in a pack and I bought two packs for $19.00 each. The rods were also $19.00 ea. Another “score” from Home Goods.

For less than $80 bucks, I added feminine glam to the windows and they danced!

Ready Made sheers are budget friendly and Home Goods stores offer a great selection.

Oversized Rug. I took my friend Malka shopping at her Goodwill. When I walked in the front door and laid my eyeballs on this gorgeous rug, I screamed! The rug was rolled up but I could tell the weave was excellent quality. It’s practically brand “spankin” new! No stains, no smell just a beautiful thick pile area rug handmade in Turkey for $20.00! Bless my heart! This is why I love thrifting. Why pay retail?

Mirror Mirror On The Wall. I had no idea what I wanted for the center of this wall. I just knew it needed something. I already have two mirrors on either side of the bed but when I found this round vintage mirror at my favorite antique store for $60.00, I knew this was the look I was going for. I love how it reflects the bathroom area.

I made this pillow and I shared how here. I flipped it over to show off the pretty buttons and zigzag ribbon closure. As I continue to check items off my “to do” list for our master bedroom, I will keep you posted. For now, I’m in love with how the room is coming together. What do you think?
