4th of July Fixins

The sky will dance with sparkles tomorrow night and I’m looking forward to sitting on the lawn with a big glass of sweet southern iced tea and watching all the magical fireworks ignite! I love celebrating the 4th of July without having to spend a ton of money on fireworks. My little town has one of the best 4th of July celebrations with fireworks, food, and fun… all for free.

I’m sure you can find a local spot near you with the same fringe benefits. It’s safe and better than any fire cracking finale you can create and best of all, no clean up. All I need to complete this celebration is a backyard BBQ so I’ve opened my recipe vault to share a few of my favorite recipes that I’m preparing for our holiday table. I grew up on Peach Cobbler. My mama always made a big pan with peaches from our peach tree. The crust was from scratch and plenty of butter. This one is close to her recipe.

Hubby is the grill master in the family and he loves to grill up a couple of steaks every now and then. This Grilled Steak recipe is his recipe and it’s really simple and delicious.

July is the official month for watermelon consumption in my book. I don’t buy one until July because I want my melon to be sweet and juicy. The longer the melon is on the vine the sweeter the juice. This Watermelon Salad is oh so refreshing and looks pretty awesome too.
